Following the success of its first training batch, FUSE hosts the second round of its “Teaching Reading for Elementary Teachers: The Science and Research-Based Pedagogy” course under English training program. A total of 36 educators participated from various private school associations in Laguna and public schools in Las Piñas.
Day one was led by Prof. Sarah Gonzales, who focused on phonemic awareness and decoding strategies, essential for developing strong reading skills. Teachers explored the Marungko and Fuller approaches for teaching Filipino and English learners and learned techniques to enhance reading fluency and comprehension. On the second day Dr. Alonzo led the training, providing an in-depth look at the Science of Reading (SoR), focusing on brain development and effective strategies for early literacy. Teachers engaged in interactive activities, including Read-Aloud sessions and discussions to clarify misconceptions about the reading process.
With the success of this second batch, the FUSE Foundation remains committed to equipping educators with the tools they need to enhance reading instruction and improve student literacy nationwide.
Stay tuned for more updates on upcoming training sessions.
