FUSE Foundation held a trainers’ training session titled “Developing Futures Literacy and Sustainability Competencies Among Filipino Students,” led by the insightful Dr. Sterling Plata. This session was designed to equip our facilitators with the knowledge and skills necessary to foster critical competencies in students that will prepare them for the challenges of the future.

Dr. Plata introduced the concept of futures literacy, which empowers students to navigate uncertainty and make informed decisions about their futures. This competency is essential in today’s rapidly changing world, where adaptability and foresight are crucial. Through engaging discussions and interactive activities, participants explored how to integrate futures literacy into their teaching practices, encouraging students to think critically about their roles in shaping a sustainable future.

Dr. Plata also emphasized the importance of teaching students about environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic viability. Participants learned effective strategies to incorporate sustainability into the curriculum, helping students understand the interconnectedness of these issues and their impact on communities and the planet.
